Helping educate those affected by domestic violence and rape is crucial.

Wednesday the Monongalia County Commission recognized the hard work by the Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center by declaring October to be "National Domestic Violence Awareness Month."

The local center serves Monongalia, Preston, and Taylor counties.
