BUCKHANNON -

The city of Buckhannon is in the running to be named "Coolest Small Town."

Budget Travel Magazine is looking for the top ten standout communities across the country with populations under 10,000, and an indescribable feature about them.

11 small towns in West Virginia are in the running and Buckhannon has 130 nominations so far.

"We're a great small town, I'm going to go ahead and nominate us, and try to be the driving force to get people voting and people have really picked up on that, and a lot of organizations and individuals have jumped on board and are doing everything they can to get many votes for Buckhannon," said Laura Meadows, of Upshur County CVB.

Towns like Fayetteville and Lewisburg have won in the past.
