West Virginia State Police arrested a Beverly man Sunday for retaliating against troopers, according to a news release from state police.

Ronald E. Dutch, 59, was arrested and charged with one count of wanton endangerment and five counts of retaliation against a public officer.

On Sunday at approximately 7:06 p.m., the Randolph County Sheriff's Department and State Police were notified by Randolph County 911 of a domestic disturbance at a residence in Beverly, state police said.

While responding to the complaint, Elkins Communications and Randolph County 911 alerted those responding that they had received calls of shots fired at the Beverly residence, according to the news release.

Once authorities arrived at the residence, the wife of the accused, Jacqueline Dutch, advised that she had been in an argument with her husband and that he began to tear up their residence, according to the news release.

After searching the residence and failing to locate Ronald Dutch, the authorities exited the residence. While the authorities were exiting the residence, a man, later identified as Dutch, yelled from a wooded area behind the residence.

State police said Dutch refused to cooperate and continued to become increasingly agitated with the authorities' demands, stating that he had two firearms in his possession and making verbal threats to the authorities present.

At approximately 10:10 p.m., Dutch appeared from behind a woodpile near where the authorities were stationed, wielding a Mossberg 12 gauge shot gun in one hand and a Remington Model 7600 30-06 SPRG in the other, state police said.

Dutch then complied with verbal commands from the authorities to drop the weapons, and was taken into custody without incident, according to the news release.

Dutch is currently in the Tygart Valley Regional Jail with bail set at $50,000.

Additional charged of domestic assault are pending, state police said.

The W.Va. State Police K9 Unit, Randolph County Sheriff's Department and Elkins city police units all responded.
