Students in Webster County are already getting a jump-start on college.

Students were working on two labs, one extracting DNA and the other examining and researching organic compounds.

Students earn college credit as well as high school credit through Marshall University.

"By the time they're juniors and seniors, 90 percent of them know what they need to be taking. They have talked to teachers, they have talked to the counselor and they have talked to college students from here who have gone on to college who are telling them take the math classes, take the science classes, you've got to have them to succeed in college," said WCHS science teacher Ken Johnson.

Next, the class will head into the field.
