The gubernatorial debate got underway Tuesday evening in Charleston.
Governor Earl Ray Tomblin and Republican challenger Bill Maloney squared off regarding many of the state's major issues for one hour at the Clay Center downtown.
The moderator steered the two toward their points of view on manufacturing jobs, coal, education, utility rates, the budget, prison overcrowding, and taxes.
Governor Tomblin and Maloney got testy at times, especially when talking about ObamaCare and how stimulus money for broadband has been spent in West Virginia.
"Spread the broadband out, and get the high speed Internet here in our state," Maloney said. "It's crucial, and we have to figure out how to get it done. This money was wasted."
"It has not been wasted," Gov. Tomblin said. "Broadband is being installed every single day. The important thing that we've got to remember is that we need broadband."
For the most part the debate was civil, but Maloney told the governor several times that he just "did not get it."
