We have all heard the saying, "A dog is a man's best friend." You may never know how true that statement is until you meet a dog that comes from the program "Paws 4 People."

Students and teachers at Barrackville School took to the sidewalks Wednesday to show their support for safe walkways near schools.
Students participated in a walk-a-thon on newly constructed sidewalks. Barrackville received the "Safe Routes to School" grant from the state of West Virginia to be used in the construction of footpaths leading to local schools.
Wednesday's walk-a-thon showed students safe walking routes and gave them some extra time outside.
"The walk-a-thon is really a fun way to get the kids out, to let them be on the sidewalks and see that they can walk safely to school. It's also for their health, getting them moving and having some fun," said Marcia Painter, of Barrackville School.
Painter hopes the walk-a-thon will become an annual fall tradition for their school.
