The Fairmont State-Pierpont Foundation has received over $75,000 in tax credits that will go toward student scholarships.
Donors to the West Virginia Development Office's Neighborhood Investment Program are eligible to receive a 50 percent tax credit of their contribution.
If a person donates $1,000 it could receive half of it back in taxes.
The NIP scholarship benefits low income West Virginia residents attending FSU or Pierpont.
"We've always used the same criteria for the money," said Gary Bennett, president of the Fairmont State-Pierpont Foundation. "It's for scholarships. It's for students whose family income is less then 125 percent of the federal poverty guidelines."
The Foundation has raised almost $1 million in support of the NIP Scholarship Fund since 2005.
