Fairmont General Hospital has been recognized by the Joint Commission as a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures for the second straight year.
The award reflects an organization's commitment to meeting performance standards for heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia, and surgical care.
FGH has met the quality measures at least 95 percent of the time.
FGH is one of 244 hospitals nationwide that has gotten the award two years running.
"For Fairmont general to win this award two years in a row in all four of what we call those key clinical areas I think says a lot for the commitment here," said Terri Bonasso, of Quality and Rish Management.
"Joint commission is our accrediting body here at the hospital, but they also accredit institutions nationwide," said Peggy Coster, Vice President of Patient Services. "We perceive this as a national honor. We are just very pleased to be able to achieve it."
Each year, FGH will have to meet additional quality measures.
