St. Francis De Sales Competes in 'Calling All Communities' Campaign

St. Francis De Sales Central Catholic School is making their final push for the US Cellular Competition. They finished in 88th place this week and are trying to make it to the top eighteen before this Sunday.

US Cellular's Calling all Communities Campaign has donated $3 million to schools since it first began. The school with the most votes will receive $150,000 and the next seventeen schools will receive $50,000 each.

"The programs that this would allow us to do at our school are extensive. It's unrestricted funds we could use it toward technology in the class room, instructional materials, iPad's for students. Things that as a parochial school we're not privy to compared to public schools," said Artie Moore, the Principal of the school.

St. Francis students get excited when thinking about what the money would provide for the school.

"I think it would be great to win for the school. We do a lot of great things here at St. Francis, we help a lot of people. And we're getting a really great education so it would go towards something good," said Olivia Sokos, an eighth grade student at St. Francis.

If the school places in the top 18 it plans to use the money to purchase technology upgrades.

Buckhannon Upshur High School is also in the running.
