Several counties in West Virginia have already started celebrating the state's sesquicentennial. Marion County has a very rich history and now its residents are ready to celebrate how far it has come.
Several counties in West Virginia have already started celebrating the state's sesquicentennial. Marion County has a very rich history and now its residents are ready to celebrate how far it has come.
The Morgantown Newcomers Club held its annual luncheon fundraiser Tuesday.
Members met at the Lakeview Resort.
The event raised about $3,000 for the social club.
The club is intended to welcome in new residents to the area. It's a role the president said is very important.
"This is an amazing group of ladies," said Su Barsalou, of the Morgantown Newcomers Club. "We have people from all walks of life and they are so welcoming. Once you get involved in the group, you'll never be lonely again."
