Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day Held in Morgantown

Posted: Updated:

Many people have been wearing pink for breast cancer awareness but it's also important to know your options after going through breast cancer.

The inaugural Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day is informing cancer patients about the options they have after a mastectomy.

Seven out of 10 women are not offered reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy.

One survivor said reconstructive surgery is important to feeling feminine.

"Breast reconstruction has allowed me to become whole again, or I will be whole again, not that having breasts make you whole, but for me it was important that I end my surgery the way I started it," said Susan Peradotti, a breast cancer survivor.

A BRA Flash Mob was held before the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Morgantown.
