Salem City Council will be discussing the police fee that is on residents' monthly water bill at it's next meeting on Tuesday, October 23, according to Salem city manager Joe Davis.

The meeting will start at 7 p.m.

Davis said some residents have been questioning the fee, since the city is currently without a police force.

The city of Salem is looking to fill several vacancies including mayor, police chief and officer, and water clerk.

City manager Joe Davis said he's exploring several options for the law enforcement vacancies.

Davis said the city could fill the positions or it could eliminate the police department, and rely on the sheriff's department or the state police.

He said he hopes to fill the other vacancies as soon as possible.
