MORGANTOWN -

West Virginia Women Work held its annual fundraiser to raise awareness for the Step-Up for Women program on Thursday night.

The construction training program is a non profit, 11-week, employment-based course for women genuinely interested in construction jobs.

"Women that graduate from Step-Up for Women typically get into entry-level construction jobs like construction laborer, a carpenter helper or a plumber in training," said Kristina Szczyrbak, program coordinator and job developer.

First Lady Joanne Tomblin was the special guest speaker at the event. The event also benefited the Eight Penny Construction, which is a graduate training company for Step-Up.
