UPDATE: Woman Flown to Hospital After Being Struck with Car in Marion County

The Marion County Sheriff's Department has identified the man accused of hitting a woman with his car Monday as George Markley, 44.

It happened around 1 p.m. Monday on Shanty Lane in Four States.

Markley fled the scene and locked himself inside of his house.

Deputies have confirmed Markley was intoxicated during the time of the incident but said the incident has been classified as an accident.

The woman was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital.  Her condition is currently unknown.

Markley is being held in North Central Regional Jail on charges of third offense DUI and driving on a revoked license. His bail is set at $20,000.

The Marion County Sheriff's Department is investigating an incident that happened on Shanty Lane in Four States Monday afternoon.

A woman was taken by an ambulance and flown by Healthnet to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a man struck her with his car, according to deputies.

The man ran to his house and locked himself inside. Sheriff's deputies had to draw their weapons and force entry into the house to remove the man, before taking him into custody, according to deputies.

Police are questioning witnesses that were in the area at the time of the incident. Deputies have not released the names or conditions of those involved, although the incident is believed to be domestic in nature.
