Two businesses were cited following an alcohol compliance check in Monongalia County, according to a news release from the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department.
On October 18, deputies of the Monongalia County Sheriff's Department, along with an underage operative, conducted alcohol compliance checks at 11 businesses in Monongalia County.
Nine of the 11 businesses checked did not sell to the underage person, deputies said.
The nine businesses that did not sell are:
Shell Gas Station on University Avenue
Sheetz on Boyers Avenue
CVS on Monongahela Boulevard
Sheets on Chaplin Road
Walmart at University Town Center
Target at University Town Center
Giant Eagle at University Town Center
Rite-Aid in Westover
BFS in Westover
The two businesses that did sell to the underage person were the Circle-K on Earl Core Road and the Circle-K in Westover.
Earl Core Road Circle-K employee Matthew Fluharty, 22 of Morgantown, and Westover Circle-K employee Jeremy Pursell, 35 of Morgantown, were both cited for selling to an underage person, according to the sheriff's department.
The Monongalia County Sheriff's Office said it will continue to do compliance checks throughout Monongalia County.
