Harrison County 911 Center Preparing for Future Weather Disasters

Posted: Updated:

A lot of people lost power this summer when the June wind storm hit.

But there was very little need for overnight shelter; at least in Harrison County.

911 Director Paul Bump said the county is building a relationship with state and federal agencies in case something like that ever happens again.

"We're trying to come up with a system instead of overnight shelter, a reception type thing," Bump said. "Gather people up, see what needs are, triage situation."

Bump said Harrison County doesn't want to be in a position where it can't get help if it needs it.

It also doesn't want to have too many resources that could go to waste.
