PDC Energy Employees Give Back To Community

FAIRMONT -

More than 400 PDC Energy employees took the day off Friday to participate in the company's inaugural community outreach day.

PDC Energy is a 40-year-old independent natural gas and oil company.

It operates in Colorado, Southern Ohio, and here in West Virginia.

The company has provided its employees with up to eight work hours to help an organization in the community.

"Company wide we are helping 32 organizations," said PDC Director of Compliance Beverly Ryan. "That 60 percent of our workforce will be out helping in the community on that day."

The inaugural community outreach program is called "Energizing Our Community."

422 employees volunteered at 32 organizations. That approximates 1,250 hours in one day.

"It shows the investment the company has in the community and in its employees," said PDC Employee Dana Chapman. "To empower them to get involved."

Employees were able to volunteer at the organization of their choice.

Some employees chose to work on the landscaping at West Fairmont Middle School and others donated their time to the Marion County Humane Society.

"I chose West Fairmont because I have family that attended here and my mom teaches here," said PDC Employee Hunter Delligatti.

"I chose the Humane Society because I grew up and lived in Marion County my whole life," said PDC Employee Becky Drain. "I thought it would be a good idea to give back to something close to me."

Organizations, like the Marion County Humane Society, said they are very grateful for the additional help.

"It's wonderful," said Humane Society Director Amanda Gerkin. "They are doing the things we just don't have time to do on a daily basis. They are putting together our new cat condos, socializing the animals, and helping us clean walls."

PDC Energy said it would like to thank all 32 organizations that participated in their community outreach day.

This is something they would like to continue for years to come.
