
A Fairmont resident was sentenced by Judge Irene M. Keeley on October 26 in U.S. District Court in Clarksburg, according to a news release from the office of the U.S. Attorney Northern District of W.Va.
John D. Washington, 30, was sentenced to 78 months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release.
Washington pleaded guilty on September 4, 2012, to possession of a firearm on November 26, 2011 in Marion County, after previously being convicted in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of W.Va. for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Washington was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshal pending designation to a Federal institution.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda E. Wesley and was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
