An electrical fire destroyed a home in Harrison County Tuesday night. The Harrison County 911 Center said it started just after 12:15 a.m. on Locust Street in Salem. It said the fire appears to be suspicious.

Doddridge County High School has received a three-year, $50,000 Innovation Zone Grant, allowing students with similar interests to spend a few hours every month getting real world experience.

The Higher Learning Commission sends representatives to institutions of higher education every ten years for accreditation.
Fairmont State University has been preparing for its visit for the past two years.
The university must write a report and the Higher Learning Commission will conduct interviews with university officials for accuracy.
FSU must demonstrate that it meets the criteria set by the commission for re-accreditation.
"They say if you're doing these things, then write about them in the report, which we did," said Christina Lavorata, of FSU. "Then while they are here they may pick up on anything that we wrote about question us a little further."
The Higher Learning Commission will send FSU a written report next month stating if the university satisfied the criteria for accreditation.
