Energy development and the safety of West Virginia's water sources may have more in common than you think.
At Wednesday's water research conference in Morgantown, energy and environmental protection experts presented recent findings.
The Water Research Institute said this is one of the few chances energy developers and environmental agents have to discuss state affairs.
"This is the premiere water conference for the state. It allows people who are involved in creating energy, regulating energy industries and developing technologies to understand and mitigate the effects of energy development. It is the one focal point where we can bring all these parties together and talk, " said Dr. Paul Ziemkiewicz, West Virginia Water Research Institute director.
A main goal of the conference is to find better ways to maximize energy and preserve the environment, using the most efficient technology available.
