Barbour County Assists Citizens in Sandy's Aftermath

PHILIPPI -

Barbour County officials met Wednesday afternoon in the Comm Center in Philippi to discuss the county's issued with power outages and water supply.

Officials said thousands of customers are still waiting for power to be restored, and the water supply is running low.

"That's a critical issue for us right now, with the city of Philippi being out of water, and they are unable to produce the water, but they do have a generator that they are in the process of hooking up. They'll be able to fill some tanks, but they have booster stations that will fill other tanks to supply the city and outlying areas. Right now our main concern is water for the citizens of Barbour County, the Philippi area, A-B College, and Broaddus Hospital" said Phil Hart, president of Barbour County Commission.

Almost 3,000 bottles of water will be distributed to those who need it. The times and locations will be announced when available.
