On Wednesday night, the Harrison County Parks and Recreation Commission held its 18th annual Halloween Party at the county's Recreation Complex/4-H Center. Organizers said the party is a safe alternative to Trick-or-Treating.
"We offer this party, this is about our 18th year now, as an alternative to Trick-or-Treat," said Mike Book, Director for the Harrison County Parks and Recreation. "A safe alternative for parents to come bring their kids for whatever reasons, they come and have a good time. We have treat bags for them, we have games they play they can turn in for prizes and we have costume contests and everything like that."
Book said the turnout for the party was almost 500 people. The building reached capacity, and organizers had to close the doors until some people left to let more in.
The rain and cold might have stopped some communities from having Trick-or-Treat, but Bridgeport held its festivities as scheduled on Wednesday. Despite the weather, children and parents filled the neighborhoods of Bridgeport to get candy and celebrate Halloween.
Clarksburg's Trick-or-Treat has been moved to Thursday, November 1 at 6:00 p.m.
