Update:

An all-male jury found Terry Messenger guilty of second degree murder in the stabbing death of his wife Ida Marie, better known as "Dolly", late Thursday.

Harrison County Circuit Judge Matish will order a pre-sentence investigation and Messenger will be sentenced on Dec. 10 at 1 p.m., according to the Harrison County Prosecutor's Office.

Original story:

The trial of a Lewis County man accused of killing his wife has gone to the jury.

Terry Messenger pleaded not guilty to the charge of first degree murder in the 2011 stabbing death of Ida Messenger.

The defense instead said Messenger committed voluntary manslaughter.

The defense and prosecuting attorneys presented their closing arguments Thursday. The jury is deliberating the verdict.
