FAIRMONT -

November is National Adoption Month, and Saturday a celebration was held to honor families who are a part of the adoption system.

Adoptive parents and children came together at Valley Worlds of Fun to hear stories of other adoptions, and celebrate the adoption process they've all been a part of.

"The organizers of this are part of the retention and recruitment collaborative, and that's a collaborative of state and private agencies that have put this on. We have invited just area families from West Virginia that have been involved with foster care, adoption, legal guardianship, and any of those sort" said Regan McGahan, a Chafee Foster Care Support Specialist.

Some of the speakers included adoptive parents, and Rachel Marlow, a 19 year old Fairmont State University student who went through the foster care system.

She spoke about her experiences with her legal guardians. This was the fifth year for the event, and WBOY's Dana Arquilla was the MC this year.
