MORGANTOWN -
The Appalachian Children's Chorus held a concert Sunday at the Creative Arts Center in Morgantown.
The WVU Department of Music presented "A Union of Young Voices" featuring the Appalachian Children's Chorus, The Chanticleer Children's Chorus, and the Morgantown Children's Choir. Each group performed their own songs, and then collaborated on three songs.
The Appalachian Children's Chorus might be located in Charleston, but it actually expands across the state of West Virginia.
"We love what we do. We have eight choirs all together, five in Charleston, and three satellite programs. One in Logan County, one in Mason County and one in Putnam County. So we are taking our ‘official children's chorus' thing seriously, and sharing the joy with children and music because it changes children's lives" said Selina Midkiff, director. "This choir was fifth grade through 12th grade; my program all together is kindergarten through 12th grade."
The Appalachian Children's Choir will be traveling to Hawaii in July.
