SUMMERSVILLE, West Virginia -
On Friday, plans were being made for alternative voting locations in Nicholas County.
The county still had 11 voting precincts without power following Hurricane Sandy.
Over the weekend, that number dwindled as power crews slowly restored power to different areas.
Nicholas County Clerk Audra Dietz took over the position in May. She has worked in the clerk's office for 56 years.
"We have never had an election with these problems," said Dietz.
The county had National Guard tents setup in place while they waited for the power to be restored. Now the concern is that the power won't stay on. Many trees weakened by soft soil are in danger of toppling, taking out freshly reconnected power lines. If that happens, the county will resort to generators and paper ballots.
More than 2,000 MonPower customers remain without power in the county.
