The Marion County Board of Education has fired a freshman cheerleading coach who is accused of having sexual relations with a 16-year-old male student.

Amanda Barker had been suspended but was fired at the Monday night board of education meeting, according to Gary Price, Marion County Schools Superintendent. Barker is also prohibited from attending future school events.

West Virginia State Police arrested Amanda Barker on October 23 on three counts of sexual abuse by a person in a position of trust.
