Counting votes in Mineral County likely will last long into the night.

The county gives voters a choice of using an electronic voting system or paper ballots, and many people choose paper ballots, a spokesperson for the county clerk's office said. Ballots counted electronically had been counted before midnight, but not the paper ballots, the spokesperson said.

There were 1,700 paper ballots cast in early and absentee voting alone, the spokesperson said.
