Tucker County Saw a Packed Courthouse For Elections

Posted: Updated:

The Tucker County courthouse was packed last night as the results came in. Brian Wilfong won the race for Sheriff. Wilfong has been a member of law enforcement for 25 years. He dominated the race and won by nearly 2,000 votes.

Ray Lamora came away with the win in the race for Prosecuting Attorney, and this one was much closer. Lamora defeated Chris Cooper by only 32 votes.

"It was a lot of ups and downs. It was nerve wracking. But it was good talking to people and getting to know them. It's just really been exciting," said Brian Wilfong, Sheriff elect.

"It was an uphill battle the whole way. I had great competition. Chris (Cooper) is a fine, standup guy. It was a great, clean race. I think knowing that we each had to work with each other it was going to be tough because you couldn't really do anything negative. You had to really just talk yourself up and we both did that," said Ray Lamora, Prosecuting Attorney elect.

Both winners were thankful to all the residents who cast their vote.
