--Update--

The Ritchie County Office of Emergency Services said the Department of Environmental Protection is investigating the cause of a gas well leak that was discovered Tuesday night in Pennsboro.

No injuries or health issues have been reported, but the office of emergency services said a conventional wellhead blew off, causing the gas release.

The office said pressure from ice and possibly nearby Marcellus wells caused the incident.

The Ritchie County Office of Emergency Services is alerting residents that there was an issue with a natural gas well on Spring Run Road Tuesday night that caused a release of natural gas.

Emergency crews are currently on scene working to resolve the issue.

Officials said residents may smell a strong odor of natural gas in the Pennsboro area.

Residents are advised to avoid the Myles Avenue and Spring Run area due to emergency crews and vehicles traveling in the area throughout the day.

Anyone who experiences an issue in connection with this incident should call 911 immediately, officials said.
