Randolph County Sees Positive Voter Turnout Despite Power Outages

Posted: Updated:

As crews are working to restore power in Randolph County, it didn't prevent residents from visiting the polls Tuesday.

Crews were working since last week to bring power to all voting precincts in the county.

Only one polling place was moved.

Randolph County Clerk Brenda Wiseman said one big factor this year brought more people out to the polls.

"The presidential race," Wiseman said. "Always whenever there's a presidential election year, more people come out to vote, and I think that really brought the people out to vote this year."

More than half of the 9,000 registered voters in the county voted in Tuesday's election.
