Lower voting turnout was not the problem in Monongalia County.

A record 82 hundred voters turned out for early voting this year and that didn't curb voter turnout.

In total, nearly 32,000 voters cast ballots in the county.

County Clerk Carye Blaney said the turnout caused several precincts to temporarily run out of paper.

"Our rovers were on the job, and trying to cover all the precincts and getting all the paper rolls changed," Blaney said. "So that's really the only thing we experienced today is keeping up with the turnout so we can keep paper loaded in the machines, and keep the machines loaded so voters don't have to wait."

Blaney said Presidential elections tend to bring out more voters. She also credits the good weather in the area as well.
