
The Davis & Elkins men's soccer team has proved it deserves to be in this year's NCAA Division II Tournament.
The Senators finished second in the WVIAC regular season standings. Then D&E finished second to powerhouse Charleston in the conference tournament. The Senators held the Golden Eagles to a 0-0 score at the end of regulation and overtime. Charleston ended up winning the 2012 WVIAC Men's Soccer Tournament on penalty kicks, 5-4.
After a great season, D&E gets to continue playing in the post season. The Senators have earned a birth in the NCAA Tournament.
D&E is the No. 4 seed and is set to face the No. 1 seed Gannon. The Senators are 14-3-2 (7-1-1) on the season, Gannon is 12-5. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Gannon's field in Erie, Pa. on Sunday, Nov. 11.
Charleston received the automatic bid when the Golden Eagles won the WVIAC Tournament. UC didn't need it. Charleston is the No. 2 seed in the region and hosts No. 3 Mercyhurst on Sunday.
