BUCKHANNON -

Ten Thousand Villages is a fair trade retailer with stores all around the country, but West Virginia usually doesn't have one.

Every year, West Virginia Wesleyan College opens up a Ten Thousand Villages store on its campus. The products sold in the store are from more than 30 developing countries.

"They give the artisans a fair price for what their product is. So they're not just giving them $5 for a basket, they'll give them how many hours they spent on it, they'll give them hourly wages and a price for the basket" said Jamie Blake, who runs the store.

The store has handmade jewelry, Christmas ornaments, coffee and tea, chocolate, and many other items for sale.

In just the first day of sales, the store made more than $800. It will be open for the rest of the week until November 14th in Wesleyan's Benedum Campus Center.

The college has hosted the store for the past five years.
