CHARLESTON (AP) — The number of West Virginia homes and businesses still without power in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy is down to about 15,000.

FirstEnergy's website shows that about 4,500 of those are in Preston County, while Webster has about 2,700 outages. Randolph still had 2,500 on Thursday morning.

The utility has said it expects to have service largely restored by Friday night and fully restored by the end of the weekend.

Appalachian Power, meanwhile, has restored service to all its customers.
