24-hour run, Operation Ultra, to raise money for veterans this weekend

Posted: Updated:

Runners from throughout Appalachia will join forces this weekend to honor the nation's heroes and raise money to support veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Operation Ultra, a 24-hour endurance run, will take place Nov. 10-11 at Camp Dawson in Kingwood.

Participants will have a full 24 hours to cover as much distance as they can along a one-mile looping course.

Operation Ultra, sponsored by Chesapeake Energy Corporation, has no crew restrictions and the course allows for tents and coolers for spectators. Runners are allowed as much support and as much of their own food as they would like. A food and aid station will be located at the start/finish line.

The run was scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Nov. 10 and last until 10 a.m. Nov. 11. The $25 registration fee and any proceeds will be donated to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veteran of America.
