A West Virginia wildlife official has said last month's heavy snowfall from Superstorm Sandy isn't expected to hurt the state's buck gun season.
However, Division of Natural Resources assistant wildlife chief Paul Johansen said bow hunters might have trouble getting to some areas to do some of their best hunting.
While food conditions have been spotty, Johansen said in an interview with Beckley's The Register-Herald that deer are entering the winter in good shape, nutritionally. He expects the overall deer kill to be up from the 2011 seasons.
Deer hunting contributes $230 million to West Virginia's economy annually.
