Fire Departments Respond to Afternoon Brush Fires

Multiple fire departments responded to two brush fires in Marion County Monday afternoon.

Wooden posts caught on fire on Bradley Drive in Fairmont around 12:30 p.m., according to the Winfield District Fire Department. The fire spread within 10 minutes which burned approximately two acres, according to officials. Two homes were exposed to the fire but did not receive damage, according to officials. The fire was extinguished. The Grafton Fire Department, Boothsville Fire Department and the Marion County Rescue Squad responded to the scene.

Crews also responded to a report of a brush fire on Bunners Ridge Road in Marion County around 1:18 p.m., which was the result of a transformer that blew up, according to the Winfield District Fire Department. The extent of the damage from that fire is currently unknown, but the fire is under control.
