FSU, Pierpont Community and Technical College Folklife Center Offers Opportunities to Students

Posted: Updated:

The Frank and Jane Gober West Virginia Folklife Center is opening its doors for opportunities for students at Fairmont State and Pierpont Community and Technical College.

The Folklife staff is dedicated to the identification and preservation of the region's cultural heritage.

The West Virginia Folklife Center is part of the College of Liberal Arts and much of what is displayed in the center is done by students.

"We have a lot of programs that are using this building," said Beth Newcome, a professor at Pierpont Community and Technical College. "The folklore minor is part of the studies, we also have a museum studies program that is relatively new. That is through the Pierpont Community and Technical College."

FSU and Pierpont Staff encourage students to take advantage of the programs at the Folk Life Center.

It has recently kicked off its Appalachian Italian Folk Series.
