FAIRMONT -

A ceremony was held in Fairmont Monday evening to honor fallen soldiers. The Marion County Vietnam Veterans Memorial holds a service every year, on both Veterans Day and Memorial Day.

The service featured speakers including House of Delegates members, Tim Manchin, Linda Longstreth, and Mike Caputo.

The ceremony also included the lighting of candles and laying of wreaths, to honor the 27 Marion County natives who died in Vietnam.

"We do that to honor each name, because there are a lot of veterans here on the wall that don't have any family members around, and we want to keep them memorable" said Rick Boore, President of the Marion County Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

The ceremony ended with a 21 gun salute, and the playing of "Taps" by the Marion County Honor Guard.
