City and county officials are discussing ideas for future uses for the old Elkins National Guard Armory.
On Monday, Bridgeport city council discussed the possible use of its home rule authority to use city funds for school projects.
Mayor James Christie said the City of Bridgeport hopes to develop a partnership with the Harrison County Board of Education to make improvements that would benefit not only the schools but also the community.
Mayor Christie said they hope to address two projects: The bleachers and air conditioning at Bridgeport High School.
"We have discussed probably close to half a dozen various or different projects that we feel could benefit the city, benefit the residents and help improve our school," Christie Said.
Mayor Christie also stated this is just a preliminary step for Bridgeport City Council to develop a partnership with the board of education. Bridgeport City Council and the Board of Education will have to take other steps and meet other requirements including a meeting with state Home Rule Board.
