The Bridgeport Police and Emergency Services held a recognition dinner Tuesday honoring the Bridgeport Volunteer Police.
Bridgeport's Director of Emergency Services said the VIPs have provided support and service over the last few months and that the community wanted to show its appreciation.
"These people give up their time with their families, they give up personal time to come and be out in some of the worst weather that we could possibly have," said Emergency Service Director, Shaunda Rauch. "They were out in the storm in June. They came out and went door to door during the heat wave to make sure our residents were taken care of."
If you're interested in becoming a VIP call the Bridgeport police at 304-842-8260.
