A proposed inland port in West Virginia's Eastern Panhandle isn't feasible.

That's the conclusion of a study conducted by a team of companies for the Eastern Panhandle Inland Port Coalition.

The study says there are three competing facilities within a 75-mile radius of the proposed Berkeley County inland port. Also, an anchor tenant hasn't been identified or secured.

The Journal reports that the study's findings were represented to the coalition on Tuesday.

Instead of an inland port, the study recommends creating a center for the advancement of using natural gas in transportation. That idea piqued the interest of coalition members. They plan to hold a special meeting Nov. 27 to decide what steps to take next.
