Local Airport Considering Charity Program to Increase Passengers

Posted: Updated:

In an effort to achieve more than 10,000 enplanements this year, the North-Central West Virginia Airport is considering a proposed "Choppers for Charity" program.

The program would allow Leading Edge company to give short helicopter tours, with $20 from each ticket sale going toward a designated charity. Each ride would count as one enplanement for the airport.

If the airport reaches more than 10,000 enplanements by the end of 2012, it will receive a $1 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration for infrastructure improvements.
