The authorities in Ritchie County are warning residents of text message fraud.
The sheriff's department and the state police said several residents have received text messages saying their "debit card has been deactivated."
The text also instructed them to call a number included in the message.
The sheriff's department said people who call the number are asked to provide their bank account numbers and pins.
It said not to call the number and not to give out your personal information.
If you already have, call the sheriff's department right away.
