The recent closure of C.J. Maggie's in Fairmont was discussed at Tuesday's City Council meeting.
Fairmont City Council wanted to know why the C.J. Maggie's closed, and what it can do to turn that loss into an opportunity for redevelopment.
City Manager Jay Rogers said it gives other local restaurant owners an opportunity to expand or relocate into downtown Fairmont.
Councilman Bob Gribben said communities to the north and south of Fairmont are making progress, and he wants to see his city do the same.
"This is what we need to do as a council, I think. To get together and as a council itself become a vehicle to be able to do more about these things directly ourselves," said Gribben.
City Manager Jay Rogers said the building has been restored, thanks to the owner of C.J. Maggie's, and is ready for another business to move in.
