BUCKHANNON -

Thursday was "Read to Me Day" in West Virginia and Buckhannon Academy Elementary participated, by hosting special readers.

The WVU Mountaineer Mascot was there. So were some police officers, school officials and two women with Seeing Eye dogs, who read aloud using Braille.

Teachers said reading is fun all the time.

"This close to the holidays and holiday break their so keyed up anyway that it's just a fun day where they can get some educational and still have fun," said Darla Street, of Buckhannon Academy Elementary.

The school tries to bring readers in every week.
