For high school athletes, the early signing period to ink their names to a letter of intent ends next week. Lots of local players are making their decisions known in the early period.
Thursday in Shinnston, Lincoln senior Ryan Holcomb signed with West Virginia Wesleyan to play golf.
Holcomb said he didn't expect to continue his career at the next level at the beginning of this season but about halfway through he realized there was potential, so he pursued it.
Holcomb chose Wesleyan based on academics, he plans to major in engineering.
Playing golf is a big plus.
"The coaching staff is great there. They're very nice. The indoor facility is nice, to be able to play all year-round and the course is five minutes off campus."
