Physician's assistant students at Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi got some first-hand experience Friday with casting, splinting and patient care.

Physician's assistants from United Hospital Center were guest instructors. They demonstrated how to treat broken bones and how to wrap injuries. Assistant Professor Thomas Moore said professional PAs can help teach the students practical skills for the field.

"It's always good to have people come who are current in their field or specialty," said Moore. "It gives the students an updated aspect to, orthopedics in this case."

UHC visited Alderson-Broaddus as part of its "Pay it Forward" program to help the community.
