The commission has appointed assistant county administrator Megan Pomeroy to succeed Willie Parker, who resigned last week.
The commission has appointed assistant county administrator Megan Pomeroy to succeed Willie Parker, who resigned last week.
AAA has recognized law enforcement agencies with awards in traffic and safety.
The awards are given to various departments throughout the state for acts of safety and are given in different categories.
The Elkins Police Department received the Platinum award.
It's the highest award given by AAA.
"It's a great feeling actually, we're very very proud. We've been to these award ceremonies for many many years.
This is second year we've gotten the platinum, the highest one. It is an accomplishment for us. We feel very very proud of that," said Chief Rob White, with the Elkins Police Department.
This is the second year in a row Elkins Police has received the Platinum award.
